Update: New tentative date (June 1, 2020) to return to UG Campuses
Please be advised on behalf of Professor Paloma Mohamed-Martin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Philanthropy, Alumni and Civic Engagement (PACE) and Chair, Transitional Management Committee (TMC), that the new tentative date to return to the physical campuses of UG has been extended to Monday, June 1, 2020.
Work continues as already outlined. Essential staff remain on call and all others (staff and students) will continue to work online. Staff and students are encouraged to continuously check formal UG channels (HRMIS,SRMS and UG website) for official updates.

Closure of UG Campuses to Students and Teaching Faculty: [Dated: 12th Mar 2020]
The Transitional Management Committee (TMC) informs that UG campuses will remain closed to students and teaching Faculty for the next week.
Both Campuses (Turkeyen and Tain) will be initially closed to students and teaching faculty until March 20, 2020.
During this period students and staff are advised to carry on their educational activities using electronic means.
Check UG official channels, HRMIS,SRMS and website regularly for updates.
Closure not applicable to UG Non-Teaching Staff: [Dated: 12th Mar 2020]
The Transitional Management Committee (TMC) informs that UG campuses (Turkeyen and Tain) will remain closed to students and teaching Faculty for the next week until March 20, 2020. The closure is not applicable to non- teaching staff.
Staff of essential services will be required to turn out to work today March 12, 2020 as per normal under the direct guidance of their immediate supervisors regarding modified work plans during this period.

2019/2020 Semester 2 Break Resumption Notice: [Dated: 9th Mar 2020]
In response to extensive petitions from staff and students, the University of Guyana will officially resume operations with effect from Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
The Transitional Management Committee (TMC) advises that any decision to further extend the break will be communicated on March 11, 2020 through our official channels: HRMIS,SRMS and our website. Students are expected to return to UG on Thursday, March 12, 2020.

2019/2020 Semester 2 Break Closing Notice: [Dated: 27th Feb 2020]
The Semester Break begins on Monday, March 02, 2020 and ends on March 09, 2020
and will replace the previous dates as reflected in the approved 2019/2020
academic calendar.
