| Admission Criteria | A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with at least “Pass with Credit” or equivalent ranking, from a university duly registered by an accrediting body in which the
programme is being delivered. All applicants, except for those with Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering will be required to complete bridging courses. The bridging courses must be successfully completed (passing with at least grade C) before matriculation into the Master’s programme. The bridging courses will be completed by
matriculating as Special Students. Bridging credits do not count toward the Professional Master’s and are not used in the computation of GPA. Candidates will only be allowed up to three attempts at any one of the bridging courses over a
period of two years. Candidates who are unable to gain the satisfactory passes (at least grade C), within the time period (two years) will not be admitted into the Professional Master’s in Chemical Engineering. OR Successful completion of bridging courses in addition to a Bachelor’s degree with at least “Pass with Credit” or equivalent ranking, from a university duly registered by an
accrediting body in which the programme is being delivered, in Science, Technology, and Engineering fields, and specifically, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Food Science, Biochemistry, Agriculture Science and related Medical Science disciplines acceptable to the Faculty. OR Successful completion of bridging courses in addition to a Bachelor’s degree with “Pass” in Science, Technology, and Engineering fields as described in Criterion II, in addition
to at least five years of relevant, verified post-qualification work experience. All applicants will be required to attend an interview. All applicants must have covered, and
successfully completed (passing with grade C or better), two years of university calculus, e.g.,
MTH1202 and MTH2101 or equivalent courses. OR Any other qualification considered by the University to be equivalent to any of the criteria above. Admission of candidates to the programme will be executed in accordance with the protocols ratified in the Revised Governance and Operational Framework of the University of Guyana
School for Graduate Studies and Research (UGSGSR) of March 2026. |
